Three-in-one function capability provides a portable solution to a range of summer heat problems. For starters, this unit will effectively cool and dehumidify a large room of up to 420 square feet. This 13,000 BTU unit uses dual exhaust hoses (one for intake, one for exhaust) provide quick cooling. The dual hose system and an internal air filter also provide clean ventilation. Dehumidifying gives added comfort during hot summer months. 

This unit is also designed to be very easy-to-use. Self-evaporating technology creates a type of water-recycling within the unit. Water that is naturally created during cooling is utilized to cool the cooling coils and then is pushed out through the exhaust air. Virtually no draining required. For extremely humid periods, excess water is collected in a tank and monitored by the system. 

The system will automatically shut-off when the tank is full until it is emptied. A digital thermostat and 24-hour programmable timer also add to the easy operation.

Self-Evaporating Technology - during the cooling process, water is extracted from the air into the unit. In Cool mode, most of this water is recycled and used to cool the cooling coils and make it cool more efficiently. As this technology does not take in effect in heating mode, continuous drainage is highly recommended when running in Heat mode. UV Light - the technology of UV Germicidal lighting (UV-C) to effectively inactivate microorganisms. 

Due to its short wavelength (200 to 270nm), UV-C penetrate outer membranes of bacteria, yeasts, molds and viruses - attacking the DNA which makes up their sturcture. By breaking the chains within the DNA, the Microorganism is then unable to reproduce and die.

"This cooler works great! I bought it for my husband to use in our 2-car garage. We're in Sacramento where most of the summer is in the 90s, with plenty of 100+ degree days. He works on cars so he has to leave the large garage door open for ventilation. Cooling the garage with such a large open area is definitely above and beyond what this is designed/expected to do, but I thought it was worth a try.

We've been impressed at just how well it works. According to the temperature gun it's typically about 10-15 degrees cooler than the outside air (depending on humidity and how long the cooler's been running). It works even better with ice in the reservoir, which drops the temperature another 10 or so degrees. There have been days when the garage is actually cooler than the house, thanks to this cooler.

Normally we use the "swing" setting to cool the whole garage, and it works well. On extra hot days, it works great to turn off the "swing" and point the fan directly at you.

The only downside is that it's very noisy. The noise doesn't matter in the garage, but in the house it's pretty noticable. We tried sleeping one night using the cooler to save on A/C costs. It was nice and cool, but the noise drove me crazy. The fan noise was fine on low, but the water dripping kept me awake. If you're a sound sleeper and/or like the dripping water sound it might be fine.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone in a dry climate who's looking for a relatively inexpensive cooling solution, especially if noise is not a factor."

This air conditioner is as my deceased baby brother would say is "The Bomb Digity".
I was satisified with it from day 1. It was real easy to set it up, and I really
enjoy the comfort that it gives me. I had another brand, can't remember the nae of it, but I can remember the fact that I had to constantly empty the water tank every couple of hours!!! This one has an auto evaporation function, it's a great feature no more water tank to empty, I'm lovin' it. Listen I live in Los Angeles CA where air conditioners are simply a must. I work from home and have a small server room next to my study. It get extremely warm especially during the summer and the central A/C can seem to handle the heat output of the various devices. So I decided to follow advice I got from a buddy about getting additional cooling power with this Whynter portable air conditioner. First impressions was that it had a nice appeal to it with the stainless steel and "desktop" like shape. It read over the manual briefly and proceeded to get it going. Everything was fairly straightforward. My thermostat showed about 82F just before using the unit and after turning it on it climbed to about 83F for a few minutes before steadily dropping a couple of degrees ever 5-10 mins. All in all it took about 30 mins to get the area down to about 68F. The overal area of the study is about 120 Sqft, but I left the door to my server room open which added about 100Sqft of open area. The temp. in the server room was about 70F which was just fine. I've been running it about 6-8 hrs a day and the one little complaint is that it gets kinda loud when the compressor activates and the fan is on high. I otherwise extremely satisfied with this item. By the way, the remote is a real help, but keep it in a safe place cos it's quite small and easy to misplace.(source)
